GAME ENDS IN A FARCE

I did have a long script prepared for tonights game, but it seems a little pointless (a bit like Englands rugby game plan). The game was a good one and very tight at 5 all. Sadly Badge had to leave 15 minutes early after a heavy fall, then someone else walked off after getting hacked off with how the game was going.

We all try and play our best but we are not superstars if people walk off in anger it just ruins it for the rest as the whole game changes especially when the numbers are low. Come on lads let's keep up the good spirit that is part of Tuesday night football.

TJ BEST 'STRIKER' SINCE CHIPPY

Match Report: 27.1.09

Colours: Rob, TJ, Andy, Paul B, Heath, Rupert (1st half)

Yellows: Rich, Rock, Mark GM, James, Jim, Rupert (2nd half)

Score: Colours 7-5 Yellows

TJ has displayed the art of striking the ball and never has a ball whistled so fast into a net since the days of Chippy. But to be fair the ball was made of pig skin then and Chippy had hair. Indeed TJ struck a nice few goals tonight which the keeper(s) had no chance.

The Colours deserved their win with TJ and Andy on fine form running the show from midfield and linking well and scoring some nice goals at the same time. The Yellows were a bit more huff and puff and found it difficult to break down a resolute defence excellently marshalled by Paul.

The Colours were in complete control in the first part of the game going 5 up, the only surprise was that the Yellows scored 2 quick goals when for about the only time the Colours defence had a lapse of concentration.

Rupert joined the Yellows at halfway and this had some initial reward, but as soon as the outstanding Andy and TJ scored further goals the game was up.

Man of the Match: A very tough call as both TJ and Andy had great games, but it goes to the headline maker TJ for some very well taken goals.

COLOURS RUE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES

Match Report: 13.1.09

Colours: James, Andy, Rupert, Heath, Paul B, Rob, Badge, Jimmer

Yellows: TJ, Mark GM, Steve C, Matt (I think?), Stuart, Rock, Paul P

Score: Colours 5-6 Yellows

The Colours will be wondering how they lost this game, so many chances, but so many missed, poor Rupert will want to forget this game as he missed 3 guilt edge chances spooning 2 over from close in and missing with a point blank header. I don't think his mind was on the game as earlier he was in goal texting a friend!

The game was a tight affair with the scores being 1 all at the half way mark. After another exchange of goals the Colours seemed to be cruising after Andy slotted in the 4th to make it 4-2. In fact they should have added to this but were guilty of over playing it and taking one too many touches in front of goal. One incident summed the game up when Rupert nicked the ball off Stuart leaving a 3 0n 1, he fed Andy, who was denied by Steve and then Badge had a goal to aim at, but Steve again saved with his feet.

This in fact could have been the turning point as soon after Andy went in goal, James made a blunder, goal machine scored and before you could say Prince Charles said Sooty, the Colours went 5-4 up. Back came the Colours and Badge did finally score to level up, though the Yellows were not done and TJ let fly with a fine shot and that was the game won and with one less man....fair play.

Man of the Match: A close call but young Stuart wins this for a good game and a fine individual goal to cap his night.

FAMILIAR FACES RETURN TO FACE THE COLD

Match Report: 1.6.09

Colours: Stew, Rock, Paul P, Rupert, Mark GM, James, Bob, Jimmer

Yellows: Felix, Andy, Paul B, Steve C, Rich, TJ, Badge, Heath

Score: Colours: 7-6 Yellows

Well, well, well, new year but some old faces (no pun intended) returned it was good to see GM, Rich and TJ (who is back temporarily before going on a world tour in the spring). Hopefully this year the numbers will be up. One noticeable absentee was John M who, on the curry night, badgered me to turn up as he was going to be there and I could make no excuses. Now that he is sober he obviously did not fancy it. Whereas I left my walking stick in the car and braved the elements.

It was a cold night and diving on the ground was like diving on concrete, it rather reminded me of my bed as a youngster and waking up with ice on the carpet. I also noticed how the earlier flem I discharged (all good footballers do this Frank Lampard did it the other day and Wayne Rooney) iced up, that made me laugh.

Sorry there was a game to discuss. It was a good game and very close. Goal Machine (who said I could do the write up today) was in fine form and one goal was a cracker giving Felix no chance in goal. The Colours did maintain their lead for most of the game due to some good defending and saves, yes my arm now hurts. However Rich started to find some space and punished the Colours with a few goals of his own, one was a soft one as Bob lost control gifting a goal to Rich. That made it 6-5 to the Yellows and you felt then that they would go on and win it.

However an uncharacteristic mistake in midfield from Andy led to the Colours leveller and they topped this off with a late goal to win it 7-6. Good game lads and this bodes well for the year ahead.

Man of the Match: A close one as there were some good individual performances on both sides, but Goal Machine wins it with a fine performance and one cracking goal.

Completely unbiased match reports...

I just want to let everyone know that in continueing with the fantastic job that Rupert did on this blog, I don't expect my reports to be anywhere near as funny/humorous/unbiased/pragmatic and resolute... In fact you will probably find them a little boring to start off with! But hey ho, I have been given this pedestal and ye all shall listen!! ;o)

Ha... In all seriousness lads. Your a great bunch of blokes and I know from speaking to some of you over the last few weeks that numbers have dropped off, but lets not let that continue! I know as well as myself there are a few boys returning in the New Year... So lets look forward to a cracking New Year and get 2009 off to a flyer with a big FAT (turkey) turn out on Tuesday the 6th!!

FAREWELL.........FOR NOW

I have decided to give footie a break as the old knee is not good, which unfortunately means the end of the blog show for now. This was a difficult decision but I kept turning up to bolster numbers and hobble around for 20 mins and then regretting it the next day. Football was becoming like a Saturday night (pre marriage) enjoy it while your out but regretting it the next day!

However now the goal machine is back there is no more need for me!

Here are some interesting facts:

Most recorded games won: Rupert 17, Badge and Steve C 12. Least games won James, 3 and Paul B 5.

Most M of M awards: Andy and Rich 5, Badge 3

Team of the year: GK: Rupert (nobody else keen)
DEF: James, Steve C, Paul B, Heath
MID: Andy, Rich, Jimmer, Rock
STR: Badge, Stew

Thanks to all the people who have regularly made the effort this year, this has probably been the most testing year as numbers are concerned as injuries and other commitments have taken their toll on some key regular figures. Keep going lads the institution of Tuesday night must live on.

BOB SPARKLES ON BONFIRE EVE

Match Report 4.11.08

Colours: Stew W, Stew, Paul B, James, Paul P, Rupert, Badge, Heath (2nd Half)

Yellows: Rob, Bob, Andy, Steve C, Rock, Am, Jimmer, Heath (1st Half)

Score: Colours 7-10 Yellows

On some days Bob can't hit a cows arse with a banjo, usually when he is in my team, but other days everything he hits flies in. Today was his day and unfortunately I was in goal for most of his thunderbolts. In the end I lost count of the amount he scored but it was at least five.

In fact the Yellows football was far more entertaining than the weak firework displays going on around us. After a slow start the Yellows were soon rocketing ahead as Bob, Am, Rob and Jimmer caused all sorts of problems in the Colours defence giving poor Paul and James the runaround. In no time they were 6-2 up and cruising, before Heath changed sides.

The Colours showed some decent flashes of good football and got back into the game when Stew and Badge started to click. At 6-4 it was game on, but back came the sparkle boy Bob with a cracking effort giving the hapless Rupert no chance.

However the game was not dead and the Colours had another surge coming back to 7-6, but just as they thought they could pull the impossible off the Yellows denied them with some late goals to make it a perfect 10, Badge's late effort was scant consolation.

Tried to get a few firework puns in a and look I did not mention Andy's name for once....bugger.

Man of the Match - Had to be sparkle boy Bob, great effort today, please, please play like that when we are on the same team.
