RUPERT THWARTS YELLOWS

Match Report: 31.7.07

Colours: Stewart, Mark Abs, John, Rupert, Badge, Jimmer, Tony, New Boy, James, Steve W

Yellows: Tom, Dave, Paul B, Steve C, Mark GM, Jamie, Bob, Rob, Shane, Heath

Score: Colours 5-1 Yellows

It is not often that goal keepers are talked about, as lets face it, nobody really tries that hard in goal, just ask Colmer senior. However Rupert, and this is not easy praising myself...oh OK I love it, made save after save during a period when the Yellows were dominant. He made one unbelievable save from Dave, who volleyed a shot at point blank range and some how Rupert got his legs to it. This was followed up by two more smart saves from close range. His team mates were full of praise and I think even Tom (Alan Sugar) Maloney was impressed.

The Colours did start brightly enough and Badge tucked away an early goal. It took a further 30 minutes before Jim made it 2. Then soon after Rupert conceded his only goal of the night when Shane cleverly flicked past him from a Bob cross. Then the bombardment came, but Rupert and his defence held firm. Dave was particularly frustrated, as when he did get past the keeper he found the post.

As a side show the Chav's were out in force, honking their bike horn to the good football and then seeing who could climb the fence quickest...yeah mate etc.....bless the youth of today.

Another point of interest was seeing Abs grace the pitch again after 5 months out and John's little dummy rolling back the years.

Back to the game and the Colours added insult to injury by adding 3 late goals, through Jimmer x2 (completing his hatrick) and Badge.

Man of the Match: This could be controversial as I am giving to myself for the saves x 5/6/7. Rob was kind enough to suggest I should get it back up by a couple of others, though John stated that the author should not get it and he should get the nod soon. I think you have one already Martin so that will do for the year.

BOB HATRICK ALL IN VEIN

Match Report 3.7.07

Colours: Stewart, Paul B, James, Bob, Dave, Tony, Scott (GK), Paul (New Guy 2nd half)

Yellows: Tom, Jimmer, Badge, Heath, John, Steve, Rupert (GK), Paul (NG 1st half)

Score: Colours 3-5 Yellows

Stewart went with the same policy this week as last, having Bob and himself up front with Paul and James at the back, though this week his team were chasing the game rather than controlling it. They did, however sneak into a 2-1 lead, but this did not last long as Badger scored his second, followed by a rare Heath goal and a goal for the new boy (Paul), making the score 4-2 before Paul then joined the Colours.

Heath would like to say that his goal was a 40 yard pile driver, or he went past 4 clipped it up and volleyed in, actually he rolled it in from 2 yards out, but the build up was good from the veteran.

Jimmer was having one of those strange games, slipping all over the place like Bambi on ice skates, hacking at Bob and annoying the little terrier and then blasting the ball anywhere except goalwards.

Bob in contrast had a good game scoring a hatrick and nearly retrieving the situation for the Colours as they began to dominate the latter stages, but they were thwarted by Rupert in goal, as he threw his ageing injured body around, though he actually baled himself out on one or two occasions!

Kitchen sinks came to mind for the Colours, but they were undone by a late breakaway goal and Badger was able to complete his hatrick.

Man of the Match: Well done to Tom who wins yet another award. He handled Bob and Stewart well, made some vital interceptions and kept feeding the front boys with decent passes.
