COLOURS HOLD OUT FOR DRAW

Match Report: 28.8.07

Colours: Stewart, James, Paul B, Rupert, Al, Paul NG, Mark GM, Scott, Jamie

Yellows: Tom, Steve C, Steve W, Rob, Dave, Bob, Badge, Jimmer, Shane, Heath

Score: Colours 2-2 Yellows

The game started with Stewart showing how tactful he can be. When he realised Rupert was not in goal he said 'Oh I picked you because I thought you were going to be in goal.' James laughed and said to me 'you must be feeling good about yourself!'

The game was a scrappy affair with the ball being given away frequently, though this was no surprise with the amount of people playing and the fact that some forget that the game is about passing!

The Yellows enjoyed the extra player throughout the game and used this to have prolonged periods of pressure, but the defence did well and stood firm. For the Yellows Badge and Jimmer created problems for the Colours with some good movement and shooting. In fact it was Jimmer who opened the scoring when he was not picked up from a throw on and scuffed the ball home. This was soon followed up by a Badger goal when he combined with Jimmer to make it 2 nil.

It appeared that the Yellows would go on to win, especially as Heath, having a good game in defence, was not going to be passed easily. However 2 quick fire goals first from Stewart and then a cheeky chip from Mark GM levelled the scores up.

The Yellows then had the lions share of possession, but failed to create too many chances, with James and Paul B having another good game at the back.

Man of the Match: Paul (New Guy) can be forgiven for some wayward passing at times as he did an excellent job of breaking play up and then showing quick feet to get out of trouble. The boy literally put his body on the line and deserves his first award.

Correction: For those of you who read this I made a mistake a couple of weeks ago. I credited Jamie with one goal in fact he got three whoops sorry Jamie.

INJURY HEARTACHE FOR ABS

Mark's injury problems continue after damaging his knee ligaments playing football on Monday, the veteran midfield player is now on crutches and not knowing when or if he will return to the game he loves.

In an exclusive interview today Mark was in typical buoyant mood by saying 'there are two people who cannot walk in our house now' (making a reference to his baby son Ben). Mark now faces an anxious wait to see if his knee needs surgery.

This is another huge blow for the talented player, who was said to be the best ever left footed player to come out of Eastleigh Tech. He has been dogged by injury ever since breaking his femur as a youngster and has constantly been troubled by an Achilles injury. Speaking to a sports physio today he raised concerns about whether Mark would be able to play the beautiful game again and suggested that he may be better off joining Chippie's tiddlywink team.

At least Mark can relax now and enjoy the Saints playing sexy football.........NOT!

DOUBLE TJ BLUNDER COSTS YELLOWS

Match Report 14.8.07

Colours: Stewart, Mark GM, Paul (NG), Paul B, Tony, Bob, James, Al

Yellows: Tom, TJ, Rupert, Rob, Steve C, Dave, Jimmer, Jamie

Score: Colours 4-4 Yellows

On a wet miserable night, when a group of lads out in the field were seeing who could slide the furthest in the wet mud, TJ had a miserable night of his own. Firstly he played a deft pass into the bottom corner, making it one nil to the opposition and then at the death hit the ball in the opposite corner of his own net to level up the game. In between this he had another pop at his own goal when a cross field pass went horribly wrong. It was no surprise to see Stewart paying for TJ's subs at the end of the game! After the game TJ was quoted as saying 'a bad day at the office.'

Overall it was an evenly contested game, with both sides enjoying their share of possession, but not an awful lot of chances were created. After TJ's first own goal Tom, having another good game, made it 1 all. This is how it remained for about half an hour until the Colours scored two quick goals, a curling effort from Mark GM, followed by a goal from Bob, following a sloppy effort in goal from Rupert, who allowed Stewart's shot to squirm away from him.

The Yellows were back into it with two quick goals themselves when Jimmer and then Jamie drove two goals in and then not long after another goal from Jimmer seemed to settle it until TJ's late blunder.

MoM: Despite another towering display from James and Paul B, showing the Saints boys how it is done, Tom shaded it with a cool performance in defence and midfield and a goal to boot.

COLOURS EDGE YELLOWS IN SHORTENED GAME

Match Report: 7.8.07

Colours: Tom, Stewart, Rupert, New Guy, Tony, Rob, Steve C, Dave, Jamie, Al, Bob, Steve W

Yellows: John, Mark Abs, Badge, Mark GM, Paul B, Felix, Scott, Rich, James, TJ, Shane

Score: Colours 1-0 Yellows

A bit of a non-descript one tonight as the game was more crowded than a rush hour tube in London.

The initial thought was to team up with the other side and play the full pitch, but after another 5 or six players turned up for them it was decided to regroup and return to the comforts of our own pitch, but it did mean it was a half an hour game.

However due to the numbers the pitch was severely crowded, as Tom would say good for the curry night, but not for the football. He would be right as the ball was given away more than Elizabeth Taylor's father has given his daughter away (target audience for the older generation).

Stewart did manage to score the only goal of the game (saving the Witcher's blushes who missed from 2 yards) in a game of few chances. The Yellows did have their chances, but found the in form Rupert in goal and in their way.

MoM: The panel did not sit this week, due to the short and over crowded game.
