THE END OF A LEGEND

It has come to my attention that last year's player of the year (Mark Goal Machine Reid) will be playing his last Tuesday night game on Tuesday. I am not sure where he is off too, but wish him luck for the future, I guess he is giving us all a chance to win the trophy.

Please show your appreciation for a Tuesday great and turn up on mass this week.

Farewell Goal Machine :(

STEW SUFFERS FURTHER SETBACK

Match Report 15.4.08

Colours: Stew, James, Paul P, Shane, John, Rock (2nd half)
Yellows: Rupert, Badge, Jamie, Felix, Steve C, Rock (1st half)

Score: Colours 1-7 Yellows

There was disappointment tonight before the first ball was kicked as again there was a low turn out, but the 11 players present, including a special one-off appearance from Jamie, put their heart and soul into the game. The watching Tom must have been heartened by the commitment of the players, but also sad due to the low numbers.

This was another difficult game for Stew who saw his side well and truly beaten and moreover only his solitary goal was all they had to show for a poor night. This indeed was a sorry return considering the numbers, however the Yellows defended extremely well and the Colours ran out of ideas.

It all started so well for Stew as he turned up in his souped up car and sun glasses, but how wrong it went, from the moment that Rock tucked away two early goals, it was all downhill from there on.

Badge, Rock and Jamie enjoyed themselves up front and caused problems and Felix, Rupert and Steve were outstanding in defence. Late on Badge limped off after taking a heavy fall (early scans show bad bruising) but this did not affect the outcome and Rupert rounded off a superb night for him and his team with a thumping volley from Steve's corner.

Man of the Match: Although I write the article I will give myself the award this week, for some fine tackles, all round contribution and a thumping volley at the end to round the night off.

BADGE AND JIM CASH IN

Match Report: 8.4.08

Colours: Stew, Felix, Andy, John, Simon, Paul P
Yellows: Rob, Rupert, Jim, Badge, Rock, Scott

Score: Colours 2 - 7 Yellows

You had to feel sorry for Stew who picked Andy as his main player in a game short of numbers, however unbeknown to him Andy was carry a slight hamstring problem, which only made him twice as fast as me instead of three times. Stew was then left saying: 'I thought Andy was fit.'

The Yellows were out of the traps quickly and and rattled up 3 goals in quick succession courtesy of two Badge goals and an own goal by John. Soon after this it was five nil to the rampant Yellows when Badge completed his hatrick and then set Scott up for the 5th.

It looked all up for the Colours, but they then started to play as Andy pushed on up with Stew, the pair caused problems for the Yellows, but a combination of good defending by Rupert and Rob and some poor finishing meant the Colours still had a mountain to climb. At one point they lay siege to the Colours goal, but in the end only had a well taken goal by Felix to show for it.

The Colours were then undone by some good play between Jim and Badge and once the 6th goal went in it was really all over, despite a late Simon goal. Stew felt that he had scored a couple, like whatever sister and my name is Earl buddy. I think we may have scored 8, but I will call it 7.

Towards the end of the game Jimmer and Badge were guilty of over elaborating as they enjoyed their night.

Comedy moment: Stew saying to Paul 'Come on run past the skinny t**t' (referring to Badge not me) and Paul answering in a broad Hampshire accent 'alright, alright I will.' Cue piss take for the next 10 minutes as Badge and Scott kept saying 'alright, alright.'

Man of the Match: Rupert and Rob were impressive at the back but this week goes to Badge for a hatrick, maybe 4? Some assists and was the thorn in the side to the Colours.

STEW CLAIMS FIRST RECORDED WIN IN TIGHT AFFAIR

Match report: 1.4.08

Colours: Stew, Andy, Rich, Rock, Mark GM, Rupert, Tony, Paul P
Yellows: Rob, Steve C, Paul B, Jimmer, Badge, Bob, Simon, James

Score: Colours 4 - 3 Yellows

Stew was in jubilant mood after claiming his first recorded win, though for long periods of the game it looked like his team were doomed yet again.

It started well for Stew's team who weathered the early storm, but then Andy arrived late and added punch and stability to the team. Soon after Andy's arrival the Colours took the lead when Andy himself found Stew in too much space and he fired in. All looked pretty comfortable for the Colours who were playing the better football, but failed to take their chances and they paid for this when Tony failed to deal with an aimless punt forward, it bounced of Rob and kindly into Badge's path and he slotted home.

The gloom then descended onto the pitch as somebody forgot to put money in the meter. During this period we played murder in the dark. When the lights came on we deduced that Steve took Jimmer out with the goal post.

Back to the game and the Colours suffered a blow when Andy limped into goal, following a hamstring tweak. This seemed to disrupt the Colours who lost their way and allowed the Yellows to score 2 goals through Bob and then I don't know as I was picking myself up after I was hacked down by Simon but the ref waved on. OK I am no Ashley Cole so I will just get on with it.

It looked like the Colours then ran out of ideas, but the Colours then scored 3 late goals to shatter their Yellows. First of all Mark fired in when the angle was tight and then Rich scored two, one was a typical fine solo effort where the ball seemed to stick to his feet, he ran past several and fired in.

Man of the Match: Belongs to Rich again after his late excellent individual skills allowed Stew a much needed win. United have Ronaldo, we have Rich. United have Rooney we have Stew and his new car!
