PAINFUL NIGHT FOR YELLOWS
Match Report: 10.6.08
Colours: Rupert, Badge, Bob, Paul L, Paul P, Heath, Den
Yellows: Rob, James, Rich, Rock, Steve C, John, Tony
Score: Colours 6-1 Yellows
What is more painful? Watching Saints? Catching the old todger in your flies? Watching an episode of Fawlty Towers? Being in the Yellows tonight? Well all are painful in their own ways (no I have no experience of number 2, but I have a friend who has), but the Yellows will not want to see this score line again, a score that did not reflect the game as a whole, but like the Ities the other night they just have to take it and move on. By the way did anyone see that cloud shaped like a pair of bikini bottoms? Most interesting I thought.
The Yellows started well and scored within the first few minutes when Rob set up Rich for a simple tap in. Badge then levelled up and made it 2-1 against the run of play. In fact the Yellows appeared to be the better team for the first half hour as they kept possession well and got in to good positions only to have the shot saved, blocked or fluffed.
Ultimately the Yellows paid for their missed chances as the Colours grew into the game as the ageing (sorry guys) team tired so Bob and Badge prospered causing problems on the break, while Heath (following a long lay off) and Paul L were inspired at the back and frustrated the marauding Rich. Goals from Bob, Den x2 and a solo goal from Heath (when he was allowed too much time) killed the game and the Yellows simply ran out of ideas and luck.
Man of the Match: Paul Lewis , along with the returning Heath, was inspired at the back and made a couple of good saves, so Paul gets the nod this week, fair play Paul.
