COLOURS RUN OUT OF STEAM

Match Report 14.11.06

Colours: Stewart, Mark, John, Steve, James, TJ, Simon, Tony

Yellows: Rupert, Jamie, Bob, Badger, Felix, Alan, Paul B, Rob, Geoff

Stewart was back this week and determined to win so he decided to pick first.

It appeared that he made the right choices as his team went into a 1 nil then 2-1 lead with fine goals from Mark and Stewart and looked comfortable on it moving the ball around confidently. The Yellows, on the other hand, were firing blanks up front with Badger and Bob not quite getting it right, in fact somebody said cow's arse and banjo is coming to mind. In fact the comedy moment came when Bob toe poked the ball over the bar and over the fence!

After a while the extra man began to show and the Yellows nosed in front with one noticeable fine goal from Jamie. At 4-2 it was the Yellows who looked comfortable and Stewart rejected the chance to have the extra man, a decision he was later to regret.

As the game came to an end there were a flurry of goals as the game became stretched. However the Yellows remained in front winning it 5-4.

At the end of the game Stewart, the disappointed captain of the colours, was quoted as saying 'we lost it because of the extra man and the fact we did not pass it better, I was particularly unhappy with Tony Greig's passing which was not good enough. He then trudged off reflecting on another defeat.
