BADGE RUNS RIOT IN FLEMMING STROLL FOR YELLOWS

Match Report: 30.10.07

Yellows: Tom, Steve C, Badge, James, Bob, TJ, John (1st Half)
Colours: Stewart, Mark GM, Rob, Tony, Rupert, Paul P, John(2nd Half)

Score: Yellows 9-5 Colours

Last weeks score may have been up for debate, but there was no mistake this week as the Yellows romped home and it must be said that rarely do you see such an easy win.

Though initially it appeared that it was going to be a close run thing, with Mark GM and Stewart giving the Yellows defence something to think about. Indeed the Colours kept ahead in the early stages through goals from Stewart and Mark GM and took a 3-1 lead. The Yellows were getting more and more frustrated and in desperation tried to claim a goal when Tom kicked the ball out of Rupert's hands; and in fact the only voice you could hear early on was Tom's frustrated tones as the Colours knocked the ball around confidently despite playing with one less.

However the Colours good work was undone when half the team failed to realise that the ball went for a corner and Badge was left all alone to make it 3-2. After this it became the Badger show as he created all sorts of problems along with Bob and TJ. The Yellows soon went 5-3 up and then John swapped sides. However this seemed to make little difference as the Yellows soaked up any pressure and hit the Colours on the break scoring good goals from Badge and TJ.

In the end the Colours seemed to give it up and just allowed the Yellows simple tap ins, so it was no surprise when they were pleased to hear the final whistle (OK there was no whistle but you know what I mean). Being the Goalie I will not sleep well tonight especially having a howler with John's goal!

Man of the Match: Easy choice this week as Badge scored 4, created merry hell and made an outstanding save. If I were you Badge I would do the lottery this week.

ALEX THE GREAT

Match Report: 23.10.07

Yellows: Steve C, Tom, Rob, Mark GM, Bob, Tony, Al, John

Colours: Rupert, TJ, Rich, Scott, Alex, Jimmer, Shane

Score: Yellows 5-6 Colours

Despite playing the whole game with one less man the Colours put in a good performance to win the game. In fact this was a good game with some good passing moves and Alex starred as he scored 3, with one being an absolute thunder bolt of a shot. However out doing him was TJ who scored from just inside the Yellows half, powering a shot in and John made a hash of it in goal. Also worth a mention is Scott who often goes week by week without a mention, but he got the ball rolling with 2 early strikes.

In fact the final score flattered the Colours who were out played for large periods and were staring down the barrel at 6-3 down, but they inched very close in the end as the game became stretched and they were able to score two late goals and could have levelled near the end.

The Colours did score goals through Bob and Mark GM, who did cause some alarm in the Colours defence, but far too many times they were let down by the final ball and in the end the team that played the more passing football won.

Man of the Match: Well done to Alex who wins his first MoM. He scored 3, one gem and even but his gonads on the line as he saved a Mark GM thunderbolt with his crown jewels!

YELLOWS LET IT SLIP IN THE RAIN

Match Report: 16.10.07

Yellows: Tom, Alex, Mark GM, Jimmer, Rupert, Paul B, Bob, Felix (1st half)
Colours: Stewart, Tony, Badge, Shane, Scott, TJ, Paul P, Felix (2nd half)

Score: Yellows 8-8 Colours

This was a strange game as the Yellows were in cruise mode, lost concentration and threw a big lead away.

The Yellows started with the extra man, but the game was pretty even, it was just that the Yellows took their chances and went into a 4-2 lead when Felix swapped sides. By this time Jimmer (feeling aggrieved that he was not put into the dream team saying their should be subs to include him) added to his impressive goal tally with another hatrick.

It appeared that the Colours would then take control when the swap occurred but in fact Mark GM went on a goal fest scoring four of his own, with Alex adding one with a powerful drive and all of a sudden the Yellows were staring down the barrel at 8-4; especially as Alex was starting to pull the strings and Mark and Jimmer were reaping the rewards.

However the Yellows lost focus (not helped by the fact that some random scores were being shouted out by some of the Colours) over played it and allowed Stewart, Badge and Scott far too much space and they made the Yellows pay with some goals of their own, with Scott scoring the last with a goal right at the death.

Man of the Match: A tough decision this week as Stewart continues to show good form, Badge and Jimmer had good games but for his 4 goal haul Mark GM wins it and closes the gap at the top of the MoM awards.

TUESDAY NIGHT ALL TIME DREAM TEAM

The expert panel met this week to discuss our all time Tuesday nights dream team. This took time as we debated long and hard into the evening and 6 pints later we came up with our 11 who would be in our team. To accommodate the excellent midfield we went for 5 in the midfield with 3 at the back. Apologies to the players who started out in the early years, as our panel were just starting school when Tuesday nights was born! By the way no handbags on Tuesday as this is only the opinion of a few.

COLOURS SUCCUMB TO YELLOWS LATE SHOW

Match Report: 9.10.07

Colours: Stewart, Mark GM, Scott, Rupert, James(left at half time injured), Tony, Steve W, Jimmer, Bob (2nd Half)
Yellows: Tom, Felix, Alex, Rob, Rich, Badge, Paul B, Shane, Bob (1st Half)

Score: Colours 5 - 5 Yellows

This was a game the Colours should have won at a canter, but I guess you could say Australia should have beaten England at rugby. In saying that the Yellows, with the man advantage, made the brighter start and swarmed all over the Colours, but failed to create any clear cut chances. The Colours though had one chance on the 15 minute mark and took it when Jimmer was not picked up at a corner and volleyed in.

10 minutes later the Yellows levelled when the ball was not cleared properly and Badge scored through a crowd of players, though the Colours went straight up the other end and scored through Jimmer after good approach work by Stew.

After this James had to leave the field after he felt pain in the ribs and Bob (having a rather strange night of sublime and ridiculous stuff) changed teams.

Yellows got to grips with the changes first and Mark made a hash of a clearance leaving Rob (who some wit suggested he had Simon Cowell shorts on as they were pulled up high) to square the ball to Rich who had an easy tap in.

There followed a flurry of goals as Jimmer completed his hatrick, Alex fired one into the corner, Felix scored an OG and Bob scored an outrageous goal from long range, it eluded everyone and found the top corner.

Then as the Colours tried to close the game out at 5-3 they were trying all the fancy tricks but leaving their own goal exposed and this suited Badge who forced Jimmer into an own goal and then levelled it up with the last kick of the game. It left Mark saying 'I can't believe that.' Less tricks and more football was the lesson learnt Colours.

Man of the Match: Despite the late OG Jimmer gets it for 3 goals and an assist.

VOID RESULT IN FIGHT NIGHT

I decided not to put a result in today due to the fracas on the pitch, which left TJ with a nasty cut ear. Let's hope this was a one off and we can get back to playing footie next week.
