TOO LITTLE TOO LATE FOR COLOURS
Match Report: 1.7.08
Colours: Stew, Mark GM, Tony, John, Jeidi, Paul P, Paul B, Heath, Shane
Yellows: Rupert, Badge, Scott (tall guy), Jimmer, Bob, Alex, Steve C, Rich, Paul L
Score: Colours 6-7 Yellows
The game started with Stew demanding he pick first so he could pick his mate GM, are bless, then he told me I could have the tall guy, what's his name? That would be Scott who has been coming for the last few years!
It was a close cagey game to begin with and inevitably Mark opened the scoring when he placed his shot in the corner. After this it appeared it could be a long night for the Yellows as the goal machine threatened to cut loose. However a flash of brilliance from the Badge and it was all square.
This seemed to deflate the Colours and in a 15 minute spell the Yellows seemed to kill the game when Bob helped himself to 2, Rich got on the score sheet and tall guy himself slotted home. At 5-1 it should have been six as the Yellows were rampant, Rich dummied a cross and Badge somehow screwed wide when he had an open goal to aim at.
The game then took a flat spell with no team exerting any real pressure, but Rupert's decision nearly cost them. He chose to come out of goal and within minutes the Colours scored 3 very quick goals through the goal machine, although Stew said 4 as he scored one, can't remember that one, but I can remember him saying f'ing Nora, good to see that old saying still around. One point to make about the rush of goals is 1. Rupert is great in goal 2. Rupert is crap on pitch and let the team down or 3. The others are rubbish in goal, answers on a postcard, to the stud muffin.com please.
Luckily for Rupert and his team Bob completed his hatrick and Badger's goal meant they stayed ahead, making Heath's late deflected goal a mere consolation.
Man of the Match: Tough one this week with various candidates including Bob for his hatrick, Scott and Badge, but this week goes to Jimmer who stopped the dangerous goal machine playing and thus nullified their attack.
