PAUL THE GREAT IN YELLOWS WIN
Yellows: Tom, Rob, Steve C, Rupert, Dave, Paul B, Jamie, Badger, Steve W, Shane
Colours: Stew, Heath, James, Scott, TJ, John, Al, Rich, Tony, Jimmer
Score: Yellows 4 3 Colours
Welcome back Stew as a captain. Stew has been out of the captain role for a while now and after Tom told him to foxtrot oscar recently (after he asked to be reinstated) he could be forgiven for thinking his captaining days were over. However Stew faced a familiar scene as his side fell short again.
It was another scrappy affair, but this was not surprising as there was little space to move in. The Yellows made a bright start, with a rare Rupert goal leading to a 3 goal spree in a space of a couple of minutes. John in goal was cursing his team.
Talk about cursing, Tom did not appear to be in the best of moods. He moaned at me when he found out that I was still injured. Then he started on Badge for his clumsy foul on James, followed by a rant at Shane for his throw out to him. Poor Tom things did not get a lot better when Rich booted the ball in his face and then he tripped up when going for the ball, well at least he won.
Back to the game and at 3 nil the Yellows looked comfortable. However they then let the Colours in with some sloppy defending, though TJ struck a great shot for their first, but the second was a poor goal allowing the laughing AA man too much space to score.
Despite this the Yellows soon had a two goal cushion when the battered and bruised Badge (see Badge for details of incident, no it did not involve a rubber suit and a fishing rod) scored after Shane's shot hit the crossbar. The Yellows then had to hang on as Rupert (who could hardly move after doing his back) was in goal but not too mobile. The AA man poached another through Rupert's legs and despite the long range shot (yes pick on the invalid TJ) they hung on.
Man of the Match: Despite a good game for TJ, Paul B was in inspired form at the back, breaking up play and setting up attacks. Though Scott claimed the same old faces win this award, this was harsh on a great display from a talented veteran of the game.
