MAGNIFICENT 7 FOR GOAL MACHINE ALL TO NO AVAIL

Match Report: 26.2.08

Colours: Rupert, Andy, Rich, Paul P, Paul B, Scott
Yellows: Rob, Steve C, Mark GM, Shane, Rock, James

Score: Colours 9-8 Yellows

This was always going to be a high scoring game after a poultry 12 turned up.

The Colours did play the better football and at times it appeared they would rack up a big score and probably could of done, but they seemed to over play it, e.g. trying to back heel the ball in rather than making sure. At 6-2 up Paul B suggested to Steve that something should be changed as it was too easy for Colours. Steve commented that they were waiting for us to tire.

This may have been a joke but at 9-4 to the good, it seemed that the joke was turning ugly for Steve. However the Colours seemed to lose focus and allowed the Yellows back in with 4 late goals, though to be fair Mark (enjoying lots of space) did score some outstanding individual goals bringing his tally to 7 for the game.

For the Yellows there were some good team goals and solo goals, especially for Paul P and Rich. Their goals came through 4 for Rich, 3 for Scott (the artful poacher) and 2 for Paul P.

Man of the Match: This game became the individual vs the team, with the team squeaking home. Colmer senior thought it was a draw, but hey ho I write the report (I love the power. Reminds of that song I got the power, like the crack of a whip I snap attack in this thing called rap....etc) Sorry back to the Man of the Match and it goes to Rich for a good all round performance.

RICH STARS IN YELLOW WIN

Match Report:12.2.08

Colours: Stewart, Mark GM, Rock, Felix, Rupert, James, Paul B, Ash, Nipper, Phil, Scott
Yellows: Tom, Andy, Rich, Badge, Jimmer, Shane, Bob, Tony, Steve C, Rob, Paul P

Score Colours 5-8 Yellows

Tuesday's seems to go from the sublime to the ridiculous with the last 2 weeks being extremely low in numbers and this week we all seemed to respond to Tom's rallying call and turn up.

With not a lot of space available on the park the touch had to be assured and the passing crisp, ok the ball was lost on several occasions and it became scrappy at times. However the Yellows did play the better football and put together some great neat one touch passing, that often ended in a goal for them, in fact at times the Colours had to stand and applaud, or trip them up.

Rich particularly played well and was instrumental in a lot of the goals scored, he was unlucky not to score with a solo effort at the end, which would have capped his evening off.

The Colours tried their best with Mark GM scoring a hatrick and working his socks off for the team. In fact the Colours did well to stay in the game because at 4-1 it seemed that it was going to be one of those long Saints evenings as they watch the goals go in.

However the turning point was when the score was 5-4 to the Yellows and the Colours had about 4 chances to put the ball in but somehow it stayed out. Soon after this the Yellows went up the other end and scored, putting the game to bed, goals in the final seconds just added insult to injury.

Man of the Match: This week goes to Rich, who keeps turning out solid performances and this week was no different with some good chances and one of the reasons the Yellows won the match.

NO RESULT IN MONSOON

5.2.08

Well done to the lads who turned up in sometimes monsoon conditions, while the prawn sandwich brigade watched England under 12's beat the Cayman Islands.

I decided not to bother with a match report as the numbers were so low (6 a side, but Bob left with an injury during the game). It was not a game for the football purists as there was not a lot of passing and moving, just a lot of individuals running past slow people like me. For anyone interested it was 11 all, with an outstanding display in goal by Paul P's son, who threw himself around. Stewart commented on the fact that he is the best goal keeper that he has seen on a Tuesday night - cheeky git.

There was an element of winding Stewart up with the score line, you know who you are. Hopefully the prawn boys will return next week as there has been two low turn out weeks.
