STALEMATE IN CONTROVERSIAL NIGHT
Match Report: 18.3.08
Colours: Stewart, Rich, Jim, Simon, Felix, Rupert, Tony, Mark GM
Yellows: Rob, Steve, John, Jimmer, Badge, Rock, James, Andy, Paul B
Score: Colours 3 - 3 Yellows
This was a game where the Yellows felt they won 4-3 and the Colours believed it was a draw, however I felt I was in a good position to make a fair and non-judgemental view on this.....it was a draw. The controversial moment came when Stew went on a good run, but some called him back for a hand ball (though Stew was convinced this was not the case). The moment seemed to freeze a few players as they were not sure if it was a free kick or not. In true gamesmanship the Yellows took a quick free kick and Jimmer smashed it home. The watching crowed booed and arguments ensued with comments like 'you cheating c***s , f off you t***s, get over it Stew you c****,' etc. At this point the fans left muttering things like 'where is this game going if people try and claim cheap goals like that?' It was at this point that the panel made up of the Colours team decided to rule the goal out.
The Colours did well to stay with the Yellows who had the extra player and the majority of the chances, but good defending, good saves and missed chances all played in the Colours favour.
Jim opened the scoring when he was left all alone to side foot in. The Colours did well to hold the Yellows at bay as they went down another player, momentarily, when Felix lost a contact. Not only did they do this but they got the equalizer through Mark GM. It stayed 1 all for a long time, but the Colours took the lead, only to see this wiped out when Rupert played a suicide ball across his own box and Badge tapped home.
In the latter stages John beat Felix with a low drive, but with almost the final kick of the game Mark GM volleyed in from about 2 yards out to earn a deserved draw.
Comedy moment - Rob's new bright orange boots! NICE!
Man of the Match: Not easy this week as there were not outstanding individual performances, but I think Felix deserves his first ever award for a superb combative performance, making good tackles, breaking things up and passing it easy.
