TEAM PLAY PROSPERS
Match Report:22.7.08
Colours: Rob, Scott, Badge, Jimmer, Steve C, Tony, Heath, Rich (first half)
Yellows: Stew, Bob, Felix, Paul B, Paul P, Rock, Rupert, Rich (second half)
Score: Colours 6-3 Yellows
This game illustrates what football is all about pass and move, the other team chases shadows and then you score. There were 2 good goals where the ball was shifted quickly giving the opposition little chance to stop the goal. On the other side it was all huff and puff from the Yellows as too many times the ball was not released quick enough making defending a lot easier.
The Colours took the lead when Scott had too much time to take aim and bury the ball in the corner. However the Yellows then had their best period of the game when Stew scored followed up by a Bob goal when the Colour defence, for the only time, had a slight lapse allowing Bob to tap home.
After this the Colours took over and a few desperate saves from Rupert was only delaying the inevitable and true enough Rich equalised with a thumping shot and then Badge finished expertly before Scott again was given too much time and finished well.
At 4-2 down Rich swapped sides, this gave the Yellows far more possession but to be fair the Colours defended well against blind solo runs and they rarely threatened, only latterly when the game was up and they passed and move a little more did they show a little more threat. Despite the possession it was the Colours who scored again when Jimmer was on the end of another good Colour move. Yellows did score when Rock thumped in from close range, Stew was ever confident and his battle cry was 'were going to win lads', are surveyed said UH UR! Especially after another good team goal when Steve found Badge with a raking pass he squared and the ball was smashed in by Jimmer. Well played Colours they played well tonight even if there was some time wasting going on!
Man of the Match: A tough choice this week as this was a sound team effort, but after much deliberation it goes to Steve for a fine game at the back, some great passes and his overall contribution to the cause.
