Match Report 16.1.07

Yellows: Rob, Paul B, Steve, Geoff, Shane, Ashley, Al, Badge
Score: Colours 6 7 Yellows
Rocky, Botham, Ali, Dr.Who, Take That, Mark Abs. What is the theme, yes you guessed it COMEBACKS, some successful some not. On this evidence Saint boy Mark may need a few more games to get back to his best, but how good it is to see the vet wonder back, let's hope it lasts longer than Marian Pahars.
The Yellows took an early lead when Geoff nutmegged the unfortunate Rupert in goal. After this it seemed to be a game of catch up for the Colours who never quite managed to do it. The difference in the teams were that the Yellows had a striker, but the Colours were toothless in comparison, with no real forward thrust.
Rupert did manage 4 goals for the Colours, Rupert did manage 4 goals, that's 4 goals, but it was all in vain as the Yellows hung on for a deserved win. Tony felt, though, it could have been a draw, but Rupert dithered (right at the death) and did not find him when he was in acres of space 6 yards from goal. Tony showed his displeasure to the captain in a rare outburst, don't worry folks he will be disciplined through the correct channels for his insolence. It did remind me of Aaragon (the tall handsome one in the Lord of the Rings, and that would be me) returning from battle after slaying 100's of Orcs and Gimli (the vertically challenged character from the same film, that would be Tony) having a pop at him for not killing more..... the bare cheek of it.
Man of the Match: Geoff aka Simo. A well taken goal an assist or two and an all round sound display for the man seeking a club. Come on you have to be kidding not on this performance.

Well done to Tom who was awarded the Pete Swift award in the bar after the game. We all agree that this award is well deserved. Tuesday night is an important institution to all of us and you are the main man behind it.
