YELLOWS WIN AGAINST THE ODDS
Match report: 12.6.07
Yellows:Rob, Steve C, Jimmer, Badge, Bob, Scott, Rich, Shane, Al, James
Colours: Rupert, Jamie, Mark GM, Paul L, Paul B, TJ, Felix, John, Dave, Tony
Score Yellows: 5-2 Colours
When Rob and Rupert picked the teams they seemed quite even, but Jamie aka Lance Armstrong turned up late and went in to my team. This immediately sent Rob down to me saying that we may have to change the teams if it becomes too easy for the Colours. Ho! ho! In fact it was the Yellows (possibly against the odds) who played the better football and fully deserved their win with the big name players failing to fire on a strangely subdued night for the likes of Mark, TJ and Jamie.
Badge got things going when he surprised Rupert (in goal) with a long range dipping shot. Shane then messed up a long range strike from John, but the Yellows were soon in the lead again following a mistake from Dave. After this they never really looked backed and the Colours were always chasing the game, leaving the defence vulnerable and open to some late assaults. Scott, Jimmer and Badge caused problems all night, while Steve and James were solid at the back and repelled attack after attack.
Man of the Match: Scott announced to me that he was MoM, so I decided against that. Despite the forwards causing problems I will give it to Steve Colmer who was solid at the back and distributed the ball intelligently. Well done Steve, an Oldie but a Goodie.
