YELLOWS THROW IT AWAY
Match Report: 19.6.07
Colours: Steve C, Rob, Badge, Bob (20 mins then swapped), Rupert, Shane, Rich
Yellows: Tom, Heath, Paul B, Mark GM, Stu (20 mins then swapped), Tony, John
Score : Colours 7-7 Yellows
This is a game that the Yellows should have put to bed a long time before the final whistle blew (or Tom shouting time). The teams looked slightly uneven and the news became worse for the Colours when Badge announced he was carrying an injury and in true continental style limped around the pitch when he did not have the ball.
The game started badly when Rupert was robbed by Mark GM and he fired in. After this it just seemed a question of time before the Yellows would rack up more goals, in fact it took them another 15 minutes and after the injured Badge had his time in goal. It soon went to 3 nil and Tom and Steve decided it would be a good idea to swap Bob for Stu.
This paid instant dividends as the Colours pulled 2 goals back and then levelled up via a screamer from Rob, which I missed! Sorry Rob.
On another note Heath was doing his impression of Jekyll and Hyde. Before the game started he Rupert were reminiscing over time past, remembering the old days when Mark used to grace the pitch and how we used to love our stone washed jeans, long hair and Bros. During the game Mr.Hyde came out to play as he scythed Rupert down after he was beaten for pace (OK that bit was a lie). Thankfully Heath returned to Jekyll at the end and apologised for the chop.
Back to the game and the Yellows nudged ahead again as Mark GM caused the ageing slow Rupert more problems, then Rupert did not help his own team squaring the ball to Tony to score...sorry boys! However the Yellows let a 7-5 lead slip, when they surely should have seen the game home. At 7-7 the game was actually there to be won for the Colours, but Stewart somehow (and in front of the next lot to come on a play) missed an open goal from 2 yards out...DOH! It did make the waiting lads laugh.
Man of the Match: There were a few contenders, with Mark GM playing well, Paul B and Steve again. However this week goes to Rob who is showing consistency in his performances. Tonight he scored a great goal, tackled Mark GM well and showed good energy in getting up and down.
